It was reported by the St. Louis Post Dispatch that a majority of Missouri Public Service Commissioner Members are in favor of granting Ameren Transmission Company of Illinois approval to construct the Mark Twain Transmission Project through the Northeast Missouri counties of Adair, Schuyler, Knox, Shelby and Marion.  This will come as a blow to the hundreds of property owners that will be directly and indirectly impacted by the Project and who have been fighting Ameren for months to block the transmission line.  The proposed transmission line is 345,000-volt (345kv) with a path across northeast Missouri from Palmyra to Kirksville and then north to Iowa.  While the PSC recently rejected the project known as the “Grain Belt Express”, the article suggests members of the PSC view the Mark Twain project in a different light.  A decision from the PSC can come at any time, as the evidence and legal arguments by Ameren and others, including Neighbors United Against Ameren, were completed in Mid-March.
